Profiles
Publish faculty/staff profiles in a consistent and attractive format.
Concepts to understand:
Profiles – a new post type (like a new type of page)
Settings – profiles have separate settings for sidebar; also you can use the auto-generated profiles index page, or you have several customization options
Includes/Excludes – for granular control, use shortcodes to specify what profiles to include or exclude. Group sets of shortcodes to get any output in any groupings that you’d like.
How to use:
- Profiles are available through the main navigation menu in the WP Dashboard
- Create new profiles the same as you would create new pages or new posts
- Profiles have specific fields such as First Name, Last Name, Email Address, etc.
- Profiles also have a free text section that you use for additional information. The free text section appears on the page below the specific fields.
Review:
Walk through the profiles includes on the practice site. Review the settings page, showing how the “Faculty” page is set as the profile index. Visit the Faculty page, edit, and review the shortcodes in use.
