The new Responsive Framework features a Customizer. This is where you manage your colors, fonts, layout, footer content, sidebar and widgets.<\/p>\n

Concepts to understand:<\/h3>\n

Customizer<\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0all settings can be accessed from the WP dashboard through Appearance > Customize<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Custom CSS<\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0write your own custom CSS declarations. The custom CSS file is loaded last, so you can not only create new styles but over-ride existing styles in your theme.<\/p>\n

Media Library<\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0images uploaded to your site are stored in your media library. You can resize, edit, and crop your images for use anywhere within your site.<\/p>\n

NOTE: Custom CSS is a powerful tool and is intended for\u00a0individuals trained in CSS. IS&T does not offer CSS training and cannot support custom CSS styles on individual websites.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

How to use:<\/h3>\n

Customizer<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • From the WP dashboard go to Appearance > Customize.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Toggle items in the sidebar to edit various properties (layout options, footer, etc.)<\/li>\n
  • Some items (like widgets) open a secondary sidebar (see indicator arrow ><\/strong>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Custom CSS<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • From the WP dashboard go to Appearance > Custom CSS.<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Edit CSS directly in the editor, which features CSS syntax coloring and line numbers<\/li>\n
    • The editor tracks revision history and supports rollbacks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Image Editing<\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      • All editing functions found in\u00a0Media > Library > click image thumbnail > Edit Image<\/strong><\/li>\n
      • Rotate – edit the orientation of an image<\/li>\n
      • Flip – flip the image horizontally or vertically<\/li>\n
      • Crop – edit out unwanted areas of the image<\/li>\n
      • Scale Image – resize image by specific pixels<\/li>\n
      • Image Crop – crop image by specific pixels and aspect ration<\/li>\n
      • Settings – apply changes to all image sizes, just thumbnail, or all sizes except thumbnail<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Review:<\/h3>\n

        Walk through the Customizer functions. Visit the Custom CSS page and review the custom style created for the “Also See” text widget.<\/p>\n
