{"id":92,"date":"2015-05-28T16:55:59","date_gmt":"2015-05-28T20:55:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wptraining.bu.edu\/edtech\/?page_id=92"},"modified":"2015-05-28T23:25:42","modified_gmt":"2015-05-29T03:25:42","slug":"section-editing","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wptraining.bu.edu\/edtech\/training\/section-editing\/","title":{"rendered":"Section Editing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Granular control over who can edit what content.<\/p>\n<h3>Concepts to understand:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Section Editor<\/strong> &#8211; a role in WordPress assigned to a user.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Section Group<\/strong> &#8211; a group has both members (Section Editors) and permissions (to what content the members of the group can edit).<\/p>\n<p>This plugin is designed for site administrators who manage sites with large teams and\/or multiple content editors, perhaps spread across different departments or offices.<\/p>\n<p><em>If you are the sole content maintainer for your site, or you manage a small team of editors who all have the authority to make content changes, you may not benefit from the extra workflow introduced by this plugin.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>How to use:<\/h3>\n<p>Create a Section Group &#8211; from WP dashboard <strong>Section Groups &gt; Add New<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Under Properties tab, give your group a name and description<\/li>\n<li>Under the Members tab, add your Section Editors (note: a user must be first\u00a0assigned the Section Editor role before they can be added to a group).<\/li>\n<li>Under the Permissions tab, indicate what content is editable by members of this group.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Review:<\/h3>\n<p>From the WP dashboard visit <strong>Section Groups &gt;\u00a0All Groups<\/strong> and open the &#8220;Faculty Profiles&#8221; section group. Review the Properties, Members, and Permission tabs.<\/p>\n<h3>Hands-On:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Create a new Section Group for editors who will only be editing the &#8220;Fields of Study&#8221; section of the site.<\/li>\n<li>Add user &#8220;wpcms02&#8221; as a member of this group.<\/li>\n<li>Grant the permissions to edit the &#8220;Fields of Study&#8221; page and it&#8217;s child pages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Granular control over who can edit what content.
